Island Kayaking Expedition

Discover remote and uninhabited islands seen by few others on this moderate to challenging trip. Accompanied by our motorized support vessel, you’ll explore the diverse natural history of Espiritu Santo, San Jose, and Catalana Island.

Only a few people have seen any of the 900 extraordinary desert islands that populate the Sea of Cortez - and even fewer from the elbow height perspective of a kayaker!

You will experience the diverse natural history of some of the islands like Espíritu Santo, Isla Partida, and San José.

These islands are a magnificent representation of the region, and this trip gives you the opportunity to experience the diversity of the flora and fauna as you paddle through Green grottos opening into cavernous amphitheaters, explore mangrove lined estuaries where a variety of seabirds nest, or snorkel with ballet-like sea lions.

Beginning in La Paz, we’ll comfortably paddle our way north to Loreto, camping in different locations, snorkeling and hiking to explore each area before traveling on. Visit Isla Espíritu Santo and snorkel with ballet-like sea lions at Los Islotes. Meet fishermen from Isla Pardito, explore mangrove-lined estuaries where a variety of seabirds nest on Isla San José. The rugged shoreline, off-shore islands and series of headlands and deep bays make each day a new kayaking adventure in this pristine World Heritage site.
