Visiting Guide Biography
Neil Ever Osborne, Freelance Photographer
Neil Ever Osborne blends his backgrounds in the biological science and visual communication fields with the intent to share images and stories about conservation efforts while advocating the preservation of natural and cultural resources. With a keen interest in showcasing work that stimulates people to be involved in conservation initiatives, photography became a conduit for Neil’s personal expression and the documentation of conservation issues seen through his scientific eye.
Neil has spent that last two years working with the Ocean Conservancy, a Washington D.C. based non-profit, as a contract photographer and project advisory board member. His work helps promote healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and the preservation of endangered species through his photographic documentation.
Both his stock and assignment images continue to be published by international conservation organizations including Conservation International, California Academy of Sciences, Caribbean Conservation Corporation and the Ocean Conservancy, among others. More recently, the National Geographic Society awarded Neil top honors in the Inaugural International Photo Contest.
Prior to becoming a professional conservation photographer, Neil mentored under world-renowned National Geographic photographer Frans Lanting while assisting in projects that documented biodiversity and the need to protect environmental habitats and endangered species.
As an instructor Neil is fortunate to have held workshops in international destinations while teaching in the areas that emphasize his expertise in field photography, conservation photography, and digital workflow.
Neil maintains studios in his native town of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and in Santa Cruz, California, USA, while researching and preparing for assignments or continuing the post-production work on completed projects.
