Location(s): El Bajo, Los Islotes, San Rafaelito.
Surface Conditions (Sun, Wind, Waves, Temperature):
Just another day in paradise! A beautiful day with perfect conditions topside (if a little too warm at midday).
Under water Conditions (Visibility, Temperature, Thermocline, Current):
Temperature was in the mid 70’s above the thermocline and lower 70’s below. There was virtually no current in all the sites. Visibility was around 40 ft dropping to as low as 10 ft below the thermocline at El Bajo.
Description of the day’s events:
We dove at El Bajo on the north seamount and quickly rose to above the thermocline where the visibility was better. We saw a huge school of BIG yellowtail jacks, we also saw big schools of skipjack and creole fish. At Los Islotes we dove around the eastern end and then spent some time with a huge school of sardines and some sea lions on the north east side. Beautiful dive! We did our last dive of the day at San Rafaelito. I had not dived this site in ages and I was very surprised at the excellent health of the coral on the east side and the beautiful little creatures all around. We saw octopus and a couple of the amazing decorator crabs.
